GMS splits with Speedway Wednesday

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle Middle School split with Speedway last Wednesday. The girls' team won 123-60, while the boys' fell 93.50-82.5.

The girls' dominated the meet, winning each event, including relays and diving.

Getting win for the girls' team were Emily Wheeler (200 free, 100 backstroke), Sydney Cassida (100 IM, 400 free), Rachel Custis (50 free, 100 free), Alexis Branagin (diving), Rosio Gomez (50 butterfly) and Hannah Brattain (100 backstroke).

The 200 medley relay team of Wheeler, Gomez, Custis and Libby Brush were victorious, while the team of Brush, Wheeler, Rebecca Moore and Quinci Miller captured the 200 free relay. Custis, Miller, Gomez and Cassida also teamed up to win the 400 free relay.

In boys' action, Nash Firebaugh set a new school record in the 50 freestyle by swimming a 25.54. He also captured the 100 freestyle. Isaac Harms (diving) and Elijah Brattain (100 backstroke) were also individual winners.

The 200 medley relay quad of Brattain, Firebaugh, Nathan Gardner and Jacob Kessler won, while Harms, Gardner, Brattain and Firebaugh took the top spot in the 400 free relay.

Both team picked wins the following night against Edgewood, with the girls' winning 122-58 and the boys' winning 118-65.

GMS is back in action today when they host Danville.
