GREENCASTLE -- Confused about the financial aid paperwork and process?

Help is here!

A financial aid workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ivy Tech Community College, 915 S. Zinc Mill Road.

A financial aid representative will be available to assist families and students help with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Most colleges, universities and vocational-technical schools in the nation require students seeking federal financial aid, including grants and loans to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is also the necessary first step in becoming eligible for state aid.

The processor must receive the FAFSA form on or before March 10. Twenty-first Century Scholars are required to complete and submit a FAFSA to claim their Twenty-first Century Scholarships.

Students 23 years of age or younger are encouraged to attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s). Students 24 years of age or older may attend alone.

Participants need to bring completed 2009 IRS tax returns, W-2 Forms, and other 2009 income and benefit information.

The workshop will be an informal help session with financial aid assistance available on a walk-in basis. All students applying to any college or university are invited to attend.
