HOLLAND, Mich. -- Kate Walker scored a career-high 15 points and Emily Marshall grabbed 15 rebounds Friday in leading 11th-ranked DePauw to a 79-46 win over Lakeland in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship at Hope College's DeVos Fieldhouse.

The Tigers improved to 26-3 with their 22nd straight win and face fourth-ranked Hope, after the hosts beat Denison 68-40 in the second game. Lakeland finished its season at 22-7.

"First congratulations to Lakeland on a great season," DePauw head coach Kris Huffman said.

"This was a good team win for us. We defended well and we had some people step up offensively," she added

DePauw jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the opening 6:27 as seven different players reached the scorebook. The Tigers ended the half with a 13-6 run and took a 42-21 lead at the break.

A 9-0 stretch at the start of the second half pushed the Tigers' lead to 51-21. The margin reached as many as 37 with just under eight minutes remaining.

Walker's 15 topped her previous career high of 14 at Millisaps on Jan. 17. Brooke Osborne followed with 12 on four three-pointers, while Jenna Fernandez and Ellie Pearson added 10 apiece. Marshall hauled down 15 boards, and Pearson added 11 for her first career double-double.

The Tigers, Division III's leader in rebound margin at +17.1, held a 47-31 edge on the boards. Walker and Katie Mathews each dished out three assists.

Leah Eisner paced the Muskies with 10 points and nine rebounds.

DePauw shot 46.3 percent from the field to Lakeland's 32.2 percent, and the Tigers knocked in 7-of-19 threes. DePauw also committed just nine turnovers in the victory.

The Tigers (26-3) and Flying Dutch (28-1) face off at 7 p.m. at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse.

DEPAUW NOTES: The Tigers improved to 19-9 in NCAA play and 4-2 in the first round...the 19 tournament wins ranks in a tie for 17th in Division III history...the 33-point victory margin was DePauw's second-largest in a postseason game behind a 44-point win over Aurora in 2004's first round... the Tigers' seniors have posted a 107-16 record, which ranks second in Division III for wins during that time behind Hope's 110-8.
