United Way annual dinner and meeting set for March 13

GREENCASTLE -- The United Way of Putnam County's annual meeting and dinner is set for March 13 with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Professor Meredith Brickell from DePauw University is the keynote speaker. She will address reaching out to the community to bridge the town/gown gap with information from a specific community project.

Also on the agenda is the annual business meeting that will recognize retiring board members and welcome new officers and board members.

A wrap-up of the 2009 campaign as well as a preview of the upcoming 2010 campaign will be presented.

The Hamm Trio will provide entertainment for the event.

Sponsors for the evening are DePauw University, Teachers Credit Union and Don's Garage.

Anyone contributing to the United Way is welcome to the event. Reservations are required. Cost for the event is $30 per person with tables of eight for $200.

Fifteen local agencies were helped by United Way last year. They include the American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter, Area 7 Agency on Aging, A-way Home Shelter, Putnam County Family Support Services Inc., Putnam County Youth Development Commission and Reading Improvement Center.

Also helped were Hope Haven Horse Farm, Johnson Nichols Health Clinic, Mental Health America, Putnam County Chaplaincy Association, Putnam County Comprehensive Services, Putnam County Council on the Aging and Aged, Summer Enrichment Program and the YMCA of Clay County.
