Judy Harris Simmons, 53, formerly of Brazil and currently living in Clinton, succumbed to a battle with cancer on March 11, 2010 at her residence.

She was born May 3, 1956, in Indianapolis to Eugene and Maxine Johnson Kizzee. She attended Tech High School. She had pursued many different career choices throughout her life. Most recently, she had worked for the Shell gas station in Brazil and with the mentally and physically challenged at Normal Life in Terre Haute. She married Leroy Simmons Oct. 3, 1997.

Mrs. Simmons enjoyed volunteering at the Special Needs Bible Camp. Judy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Brazil. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and working with crafts.

Survivors include her husband Leroy Simmons of Clinton; daughters Christina Harris York (Jason) of Greenfield, Eugenia Harris Dixon of Clinton, Annette Simmons Walden (Jeff) of Rosedale, Cassie Simmons Hyde (Mitch) of Greencastle and Natasha Simmons of Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; best friend Carol Slick of Tennessee; mother Maxine Kizzee of Indianapolis; two sisters, Diana Kizzee Dodrill (Terry) of Indianapolis and Mildred Kizzee Henry (Ray) of Indianapolis; brother David Fitzgerald of Indianapolis; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father Eugene Kizzee.

Services will be at French Funeral Home in Brazil Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, in Terre Haute. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, 1005 North Washington St., Brazil, IN 47834-6821 or the American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division, Inc.
