Leland David Plessinger, 80, of Greencastle died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.

He was born Aug. 7, 1929 to James O. and Verna A. Freeman Plessinger in Greencastle.

Mr. Plessinger graduated from Greencastle High School in 1947, served in the armed forces from 1951 to 1953 and retired from Allison in 1981. He attended the Victory Baptist Church in Manhattan, was a member and past master of the Greencastle Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing guitar for several country music bands throughout the years.

He married Josephine Joan Polifroni on Aug. 20, 1955 in Terre Haute, and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert Plessinger of Montgomery, Mich., Phillip Plessinger and wife Carla of Greencastle and Christopher Plessinger and wife Gretl of Tallahasee, Fla.; four grandchildren, James Plessinger of Bloomington, Matthew Plessinger and wife Kari of Anderson, Jessica Plessinger of Montgomery and Michael Plessinger of Tallahasee; two sisters, Mary Keller of Sycamore, Ill. and Bernice Zimmerman of Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Jay and Jake and sisters Dorothy, Carolyn, Doris and Edith.

Masonic services and private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Indiana Memorial and Cremation Service.
