GREENCASTLE -- After a season that saw both highs and lows for each team, eight young women have earned the distinction of being named to the Putnam County All-County Team.

For the second straight year, Greencastle junior Mallory Miller has been selected as the 2010 Banner Graphic Player of the Year. She'll be joined on the team by two Tiger Cubs teammates, three players from North Putnam and two from South Putnam.

Greencastle (12-8)

The Greencastle squad is led by Player of the Year selection Miller. Miller led the county in scoring with 17 points per game (359), as well as contributing 27 assists and 70 rebounds for a 3.33 per game average. Miller's long-range prowess also allowed her to connect on 47 percent (61-131) from beyond the arc.

Miller opened the season with a 33-point performance against Brown County. In addition to the season opener, Miller eclipsed the 20-point barrier seven times, including the season's final three games. She averaged 22 points over that trio of contests.

Joining her will be fellow junior Chelsea Samuels, who averaged a solid 9.76 points (205) per game and seven rebounds (147) per contest. Of her 147 rebounds, 52 were on the offensive end. Samuels recorded four games with double-figure rebounds to lead the Tiger Cubs in that category.

Rounding out the GHS selections is Tennille Burgeson. The senior point guard averaged 7.6 points (159) a game and chipped in three rebounds (59) per game. Burgeson had eight games in double-figures, with her season-high of 18 coming against Monrovia. She was second in the county with 61 assists.

On the season, GHS captured the Putnam County and West Central Conference titles.

North Putnam (7-14)

Junior Megan Robinson led the Cougars this season with 9.4 points (198) and six rebounds (125) per contest. The 5-foot-10 Robinson gobbled up 44 offensive rebounds and swatted eight shots, while stealing 30 balls on the season.

Senior Carlye McGaughey was close behind with an 8.5 point (179) per game average and a 2.3 rebound (56) per game average. McGaughey swiped 35 steals, good enough for second on the team, and dished out 35 assists.

Fellow senior Dakota Malayer led the county this year in assists with 70 and led her team in steals with 36, while providing five points (103) per contest. She also recorded 56 total rebounds, with 12 of those being offensive.

South Putnam (5-16)

A duo of sophomores earned all county status for the Eagles this season.

Emily Dabkowski was South Putnam's top offensive threat, scoring 221 points for a 10.5 per game average. She also averaged 6.2 rebounds (131) and recorded 29 assists. She averaged 41 percent from inside the arc, going 84-210 on the season.

Brooke Boetjer's biggest contribution came on the offensive side, but not by means of points. Boetjer did average 9.3 points (196) a game, but more impressive was her offensive rebound total. She led the county with 202 rebounds, 97 of which were offensive. She averaged 38 percent in the paint.
