GREENCASTLE -- With warmer weather approaching, the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department is planning a number of upcoming events as its busy season gets underway.

Assistant director Troy Scott recently announced three upcoming programs, one of which is slated for next week.

Spring Break Out will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 22 through 25 at the DePauw University Memorial Union Ballroom. It is open to children in grades kindergarten through fifth.

Each day will consist of playtime, projects, walking field trips, special events and outside games. Snacks are provided, but parents are asked to pack a sack lunch.

Cost is $40. Pre-registration is required by 5 p.m. March 17.

"Bring On The Sun" is a one-day program for preschoolers, kindergartners and the caregivers at Robe-Ann Park shelter 5. This afternoon craft program runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 31.

The program will give participants the opportunity to complete craft projects, play, get ready for Spring and Summer and more.

Finally, a pet care workshop is open to all youth with or without pets at this time. It's an opportunity to introduce your child to the wonderful world of proper and loving pet care.

The program is scheduled for April 13 and 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Jaycee Park community building. Cost is $15 per student.

This program is for all youth, meeting many of the requirements for the Boy Scout Pets and Veterinary Medicine and Girl Scout Pet Care Badge. They will learn care, feeding and housing of pets and about good and bad choices for pets.

It will also be a chance to meet local veterinarians, learn about the humane society and other rescue programs, learn about proper food and nutrition, diseases and pests.

Participants are asked not to bring their pets to class.

Registration forms for all programs are available at Greencastle City Hall, Bright Futures, Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry, Putnam County Public Library and the Putnam County Museum. Completed forms should be returned to city hall. Checks should be payable to Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department.
