James C. 'Jim' Griggs

James C. "Jim" Griggs, 65, of Poland died Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.

He was born Dec. 4, 1944 in Clovis, N.M., son of Benjamin C. and Julia E. Worthington Griggs.

Mr. Griggs was a construction superintendent with Desert Painting Inc. in Phoenix prior to retirement. Jim was a member of the Carpenters Union in Phoenix and was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Greencastle.

He is survived by his wife Rudy Jantz Griggs of Poland; daughter Teri Lyn Flory and her husband Denis of Poland; son James Dwight Griggs and wife Melanie of Ozark, Ark.; and 12 grandchildren, Jason, Justin and Joshua Flory and Hannah, Eve, Eliza, Julia, A.J., Marie, Jesse, Enos and Thomas Griggs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bennie C. Griggs.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 260 E. County Rd 300 S, Greencastle. Burial will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
