Greencastle swimmers down Cougars; South Putnam drops two

GREENCASTLE -- The South Putnam swim teams lost to Speedway recently. Several swimmer picked wins for SPJH in the event.

Grabbing wins for the South Putnam boys team were Tayler Arnold in the 50 free (26.39) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.83). The 200 free relay team of Wyatt Nees, Ben Albright, Tyler Neumann and Arnold.

South Putnam swept the diving events. Neumann posted a score of 85.00 for the boys, while Sierra Heim won the girls' diving event with a total of 109.15.

North Putnam and Greencastle

The North Putnam swim teams fell to Greencastle recently. GMS won the boys' event 101-81, while the girls' lost 130-33.

Picking up wins for North Putnam was Taylor Thornell 50 backstroke (38.08), while Nick Kaufman won the diving event with a total of 81.40. Dane Gray once again set a school record, this time in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 34.67.

For the girls, Rebecca Muse won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:59.43, while Jessie Harper captured the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:10.06. The team of Harper, Sydnie Kanne, Alexandra Wittig and Autumn Wolf captured the 200 free relay in a time of 2:24.66.

Greencastle was led by wins from Elijah Brattain in the 100 IM (1:11.43) and the 400 free (5:02.66), Nash Firebaugh in the 50 free (25.91) and the 50 butterfly (26.82), Isaac Harms in the 200 free (2:25.69) and Cameron Hinton in the 100 free (1:11.53).

The team of Brattain, Nathan Gardner, Jacob Kessler and Firebaugh won the 200 medley relay (2:42.24), while Kessler, Gardner, Harms and Taylor Secrest captured the 200 free (2:06.81) Harms, Hinton, Brattain and Firebaugh paced the field to win the 400 relay in a time of 4:25.53.

On the girls' side, Alexis Branagin won the 50 breaststroke (38.49) as well as the diving event (84.75). Nicolette Peters won the 200 free (2:41.36), while Amelia Smith won the 100 IM (1:27.04). Quinci Miller won the 50 free (28.90), with Rachel Custis winning the 50 butterfly (33.46) and Sydney Cassida winning the 100 free (1:08.23). Libby Brush won the 400 free (5:51.88) and Emily Wheeler captured the 50 backstroke (33.10).

The team of Wheeler, Branagin, Brush and Miller won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:10.38, with Smith, Cassida, Brush and Peters teaming up to win the 200 free in a time of 2:16.95. The quad of Miller, Wheeler, Custis and Rosio Gomez won the 400 free relay with a time of 4:50.54.
