Cougars pick up wins over South Putnam

GREENCASTLE -- The North Putnam swim teams picked up two wins over South Putnam Tuesday. The boys won 101-79, while the girls edged the Eagles 88-86.

North Putnam girls won 10-of-12 events to seal their win.

Getting wins for the Cougars were Rebecca Muse in the 200 freestyle (3:01.77) and the 400 freestyle (6:36.45). Alexandra Wittig won the 100 IM (1:34.57), Autumn Wolf won the 50 freestyle (35.57) and the 100 backstroke (1:34.97). Corinne Callan captured the 50 butterfly (47.39), while Jessie Harper won the 100 (1:11.41) and the 100 breaststroke (1:41.35).

The 200 medley relay team of Wolf, Harper, Callan and Wittig won in a time of 2:51.89, while the 200 free relay team of Wolf, Wittig, Harper and Muse won in a time of 2:03.70.

South Putnam was able to get an individual win in diving as Siera Hiem amassed 102.35 points, with the team of Mariah Minnick, Katie Shaw, Katie Kiste and Hiem winning the 400 free relay in a time of 6:07.77.

For the boys' team, North Putnam picked up wins in five events, while the Eagles took the other seven.

North Putnam received wins from Bailey Allen in the 200 (3:02.65), Dane Gray in the 50 butterfly (32.07), Cyle Ford in the 100 free (1:13.98) and Taylor Thornell won the 400 free (5:42.89).

The 400 relay team of Trevor Troyer, Ford, Thornell and Gray clocked a school record time of 4:32.69 to win.

Picking up wins for South Putnam were Tayler Arnold in the 50 free (26.14) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.66), Tyler Neumann won the 100 breaststroke (1:29.35) and the diving event (89.10) and Wyatt Nees in the 100 IM (1:22.15).

The 200 medley relay team of Arnold, Neumann, Nees and Ben Albright won in a time of 2:19.30, while Nees, Albright, Arnold and Neumann took the top spot in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:02.43.
