To the Editor:

We would like to thank the following vendors for participating in the South Putnam eighth grade health fair on April 8: Dr. Hennette's office, Dr. Elliott's office, Family Support Services, Purdue Extension Services, Putnam County Health Department, P.I.E. Coalition, Area 30 Allied Health, Valerie Rayce with the athletic department at South Putnam, Debi Hutcheson doing outdoor safety/recreation, Advocates Againsts Impaired Driving, Cummins Mental Health Center, V.O.I.C.E., Operation Life, the Pacers, the Johnson Nichols Health Clinic and Phyllis Legan representing the Dairy Council. We had a wonderful health fair this year and we couldn't have done it without all of you.

A special thank you goes out to the State Police troopers who took time out of their busy schedules to spend a great deal of time with our students discussing and illustrating the dangers of alcohol and other drug use. They were awesome

A new and exciting vendor this year was Gene and Phyllis Clodfelter from Bugle Valley Elk Farm. The students really enjoyed the visit and learned that there are healthier alternatives to higher fat meats.

Thanks also to the Banner Graphic for their excellent coverage of the fair.

We would also like to thank the following businesses for their generous donations: Dixie Chopper, State Farm agents Brad Tucker and Therese Cunningham, Family Video, Monical's, Air National Guard, the U.S. Army, Subway, Alex Alleys, McDonald's, Teacher's Credit Union, Burger King, Papa John's, Jostens, the Indiana Poison Control Center, Dick's Sporting Goods and Ashley Square Cinema.

Also, I appreciate the teachers, staff and administration at South Putnam for the many donated items that were used as prizes and for their assistance and cooperation.

We also very much appreciate the P.I.E. Coalition grant that we used toward our health fair this year. The students each received a "Drug Free for Life" T-shirt as a result of the generous grant.

Sincerely,

Becky Brothers, counselor
