'A Midsummer Nightmare'
SP Drama Club presents modernized Shakespeare
The South Putnam Drama Club will present a modernization of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night's Dream," only this time, it's titled "A Midsummer Nightmare" on Saturday and Sunday in the school cafeteria.
The adaptation is written by South Putnam junior Jessica Maginity. In this version, Puck (Matt McKinney) catches site of and becomes enchanted with the narrator (Nicole Hurst), to whom he pledges his love and devotion.
She is unresponsive, so he uses his powers of time travel to bring other people into her play to mess with the script that she keeps talking about, unnerve her and make her vulnerable to his advances.
Come and see why Titania has now pledged her love to a Geico caveman, Lucille Ball is determined to perform at Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding, a rope-bound Bottom is trying to escape a group of tribal women and Jack Sparrow is creating his own mischief.
Performances are Saturday 24 at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 pm. in the South Putnam High School cafeteria. Tickets are sold at the door.
