GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle girls' track team moved to 5-2 on the season after defeating North Putnam and Crawfordsville Thursday. GHS won the meet with 77 points, followed by North Putnam with 42 and Crawfordsville with 36.

The Tiger Cubs were able to pick up nine wins on the night, with North Putnam winning three events. GHS head coach Garry Anderson noted the nice performances of his team, but wants to see a little extra something from his younger runners.

"We're young and we've got some dings and dangs right now with some of the runners. It's hard on the young ones, they've not learned how to reach that threshold where they can push over it yet. A little bit of pain or a little resistance, they back off," he said.

Greencastle's Abby Coffin took the top spot over teammate Keri Good in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.8, while Carissa Johnson edged a Crawfordsville runner to win the 100 in a time of 13.3. Erika Davies won the 400 in a time of 1:02.9 and the 200 in a time of 27.8.

In the 800, Colleen Weatherford paced the field with a time of 2:32.5 and Good won the 300 hurdles in 55.4. Hannah Deer captured the discus will a throw of 99-feet.

The GHS 3,200 relay team of Faith Fear, Sara Culler, Ivonne Martinez and Weatherford won in a time of 10:41. 9, while the team of Martinez, Laura English, Weatherford, Olivia Humphreys won the 1,600 relay.

Anderson praised the performances of some of his team following the meet.

"We got a good throw out of Hannah Deer in the discus," Anderson said. "She can make that hundred, I know she can, she does it in practice. Paige Pickens had a good night. She did well in the 200 as well as the high jump and Ericka Davies, my gosh, a nice 200 out of her and a nice 400.

"We had some bright spots and some not so bright spots," he continued. "I'm glad to see Emily Crawley drop her time in the 400. Brooke Plummer, a freshman, in the hurdles is getting better and better each race. She really is and I'm very pleased with her. Weatherford had another good night. We've been working pretty hard together and I think she's doing all right. Laura English another good night for her."

For the Cougars, Paxton Stephenson won the 3,200 with a time of 12.48.4, while Jasmine Mimms won the long jump with a leap of 14-feet-6-inches. The North Putnam also won the 400 relay race.

Greencastle will host Terre Haute North and West Vigo Tuesday at 5 p.m., while the Cougars will host Rockville Monday at 4:30 p.m.
