Letter to the Editor

Thanks to everyone involved in dog rescue

To the Editor:

The Humane Society of Putnam County would like to thank everyone involved in the rescue and newspaper story about "Cliffy" the dog that was rescued after spending five days on a cliff. We cannot express how impressed and thankful we were that so many people came together to help this amazing dog. Because of the newspaper article, "Cliffy" was re-united with her family and is now home and safe.

We would also like to let everyone know that while "Cliffy's" story was extraordinary, there are many animals at the shelter who each have their own story. For example, Jake spent most of his life on a chain before being brought to the shelter. He is a sweet, lovable dog but unfortunately does not get along with other dogs. Jake has been at the shelter for over a year and just wants someone who is willing to give him a chance and show him what life should be like. Lincoln and Lewis have been at the shelter since they were babies, they came in with a severe case of ringworm. Staff nursed them back to health but by that time, they were bigger and everyone wanted the smaller kittens. Lincoln and Lewis are almost a year old now and have only known the shelter. They deserve to know what it's like to be in a loving home.

Shelter staff are always happy to share our animals stories. Please come by and visit some of our wonderful dogs and cats. The shelter is open T-Sa from 12pm-5pm. If anyone has any questions, we can be reached at 765-653-6739.
