Mayor Murray also deserves praise

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

To the Editor:

How kind of thoughtful of our Mayor Sue Murray. Sue publicly thanked all involved in apprehending offenders in only 36 hours!

They well deserved the praise. It was uneasy hours for the citizens of Greencastle. Not knowing when or where the violators would strike next was stressful to say the least.

Everyone should compliment and thank the well-trained men that got the job done so quickly.

If anyone should be so crass as to say, "Oh, that's what they are paid to do," stop and think about their duty to the community.

These people put their lives on the line each day they walk out the doors of their homes. A routine traffic stop could result in a tragic ending for them. It is a dangerous world we live in. Unfortunately, it isn't getting any better. That is why being well trained and competent is so important.

The praise from Sue Murray in the Banner Graphic was without a doubt appreciated by those who brought back the peace to us.

It is very much Sue's nature to thank people for a job well done. She takes no one's work for granted. She appreciates each and every one of her employees.

Speaking of "Thank You," let's add our dedicated mayor for her compassion, caring and dedication to her job. She keeps the city running smoothly, and makes every penny of our taxes go to good use. Nothing is wasted on frivolous items -- not an easy task in these tough times.

All of us are in the same boat, only Sue's boat is much larger than our personal homes.

Thank you, Sue. You deserve our praise as much as anyone else.
