Combs charged with child molestation
GREENCASTLE -- An Indianapolis man is lodged in the Putnam County Jail, charged with child molestation.
Kevin D. Combs, 41, is accused of molesting a girl who was 10 years old at the time of the alleged incident. Court documents do not indicate when the molestation is alleged to have taken place, but the alleged victim said it happened in Putnam County.
Combs has been charged with one count of Class A felony and one count of Class C felony child molesting. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 58 years in prison.
Judge Matthew Headley set Combs' bond at $50,000 cash only. A pretrial conference is set for June 17.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Indiana State Police Detective James T. Dungan interviewed the alleged victim on Jan. 21 at the Hendricks County Child Advocacy Center "due to that she disclosed Combs had sexual intercourse with her."
The girl told authorities the molestation happened when she was in the fourth grade.
"She stated that one evening she was asleep in her bedroom when Kevin Combs entered her room," the affidavit said. "She said Mr. Combs put his hand over her mouth and laid down on top of her."
Combs was interviewed at the Putnamville Post of the Indiana State Police on April 22. He was read his rights and agreed to talk to authorities, the affidavit said.
Combs' prior criminal history in Putnam County includes only traffic infractions. His previous address is listed as 712 Maple St., Greencastle.
