Cloverdale golfers win three-way match

The Cloverdale boys' golf team defeated Clay City and Eminence Tuesday at home. The Clovers won with a score of 175, while Clay City was second with 194 and Eminence posted an incomplete score.

Chris Arnold led the team with a 39, while Sam Jordan and Alex Evans both shot 45. Gary Williams shot a 46, Ryan Book a 54 and Tyler Deakin a 55.

"We took some positive steps in this match, but we still have a distance to go," CHS head coach Doug Wokoun said. "Chris played pretty well, particularly in the windy conditions. Sam and Alex both had decent rounds, but we are leaving strokes around on the course and we have to tighten that up.

"All of our players are capable of posting good scores, but we are letting bad breaks and lapses of execution bog us down mentally. With the county tournament on Thursday, it is time for us to step up and overcome those things," Wokoun added.

Cloverdale (8-6) will host the Putnam County Tournament tomorrow at 5 p.m.
