The bank became a Trust Patron with the Fund by donating $500 for the golf outing.

GREENCASTLE -- With the donation of $500, First National Bank became a Trust Patron for the Mary Allison Children's Trust Fund. The money was donated to the annual golf outing set for July 9 at Old Hickory Golf Course.

Funds raised from the annual event go to support the Mary Allison Children's Trust Fund, which provides medical and educational assistance to all Putnam County elementary students. It was established more than 100 years ago.

This fund provides financial assistance toward healthcare, education and welfare for underprivileged children in Putnam County when all other resources have been exhausted.

A sum of $1,000 is given annually to each of the nine Putnam County elementary schools.

Teachers and counselors at each school determine how the money is spent on an immediate basis.

Over the years, board members of the trust estimate that it financially assists at least 10 children from each county elementary school each year, totaling 100 children each year.

The funds are unrestricted, meaning school officials can use them for any purpose as long as it benefits the students.

The annual golf outing is a fundraiser for the Trust Fund. The public is invited to participate in it. For information about the golf outing call Ginger Scott at 655-2333 or 522-0507 or e-mail her at gscott@wabashcapital.com.

To make a contribution, send it to the Mary Allison Children's Trust, P.O. Box 369, Greencastle, IN 46135.
