2010 Information Expo set for May 25

GREENCASTLE--Sweeping changes with the new national healthcare plan are sure to impact every citizen in the United States. Senior citizens are invited to attend a free information expo on May 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DePauw Campus Green Center to learn more about the coming changes.

The joint event is sponsored by DePauw University and the Putnam County Senior Center. It focuses on changes for citizens on healthcare, social security part D Medicare, disability changes, fraud and scam issues, nursing home facilities, hospice, insurance, financial concerns and general health issues.

"We have lots of information available for free and hope to see lots of citizens drop by the information expo," said Putnam County Senior Center Director Kyle Hutcheson.

Panels of experts will be present to answer questions along with a line-up of speakers including Charo Boyd, Public Affairs Specialist with Social Security; Dr. Brian Black, Putnam County physician; Nannie Alldredge, State Health Insurance Assistance Program; Richard Bramer, Chief Council of Advisory section from the Attorney General's office; Indiana State Representative Nancy Michael; Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray; Carole Barr with the Western Indiana Community Action Agency; and Putnam County Hospital administrator Dennis Weatherford.

Plenty of nice door prizes will also be provided by sponsors such as Case Chiropractic, Hearing Care Professionals, Beltone Hearing Care Center, Indiana Homecare Plus, Vista Care, The Waters of Greencastle, Hickory Creek at Sunset, Advocate Hospice, Millpond Health Campus, Humana Marketpoint, Asbury Towers, Autumn Glen Active Community, Snap Fitness, Southwest Funding, Teachers Credit Union, Horizon Hospice, Comfort Keepers, Putnam County Hospital and many others.

Lunch from Treasures on the Square will be available for a freewill offering. It includes barbecue or ham sandwiches.

"School's out at DePauw, so there is plenty of free parking. For those who don't know where the Green Center is on campus, it was the music building and is located at the corner of Locust and Olive Street," explained Hutcheson.
