GHS sophomore Brad Haussin shot a 1-under par 34 in Greencastle's 160-185 win over Owen Valley.

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle boys' golf team improved to 15-2 in dual matches with its 160-185 victory over Owen Valley Thursday.

In the past few weeks, Greencastle has captured the Putnam County, as well as West Central Conference title, and on Thursday, seemed to only be getting stronger.

Brad Haussin was lights out on the course for the Tiger Cubs, firing a one-under par 34 to lead his team. Tyler Hopkins was second in scoring for GHS with a 40 and Jimmy Wheeler shot a 42. Eric Embry and Raymond Stinson both shot 44. Derik Thomas carded a 46 for Greencastle and Dakota Miller finished with a 53.

Greencastle head coach Donovan Wheeler was overjoyed about Haussin's performance following the round.

"Congrats to Brad," Wheeler said. "That was a phenomenal round. He had a 33 in the bag, but had an unlucky lip-out on the last hole. I think that makes his day all the more impressive."

The Tiger Cubs are rolling this season. In addition to its 15-2 duals record, they are also 49-12 overall, a record that represents a solid team effort. They are also able to fill gaps when needed, which is another element of a successful team.

"Jim and Brad have made us a pretty good team," Wheeler commented. "At county, Jim came through big when Brad struggled and today was vice-versa. Most teams are lucky to have one kid like this. We're blessed to have two."

The Tiger Cubs will be back in action June 1 when they travel to South Putnam at 1 p.m.
