Rady to be honored
Pat Rady, who began his high school varsity basketball coaching career at Bainbridge in 1964 and now has won 700 games, will be honored for the accomplishment and serve as the featured speaker at the 96th annual Bainbridge High School Alumni Association banquet on June 26 at the Bainbridge Community Building.
The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the buffet dinner following at 6:30 p.m.
Rady, who is the current varsity basketball coach at Cloverdale High School, won his first game coaching the Pointers on Nov. 14, 1964 in the old Bainbridge gymnasium against his high school alma mater Roachdale.
His 700th win came earlier this year with the Clovers on Feb. 25 at Eminence. Rady was a teacher and coach at Bainbridge for five years from 1964 until 1969 when the school was closed and became part of North Putnam High School.
He also coached varsity basketball at Winchester, Southmont, Shelbyville and Terre Haute South.
He and his wife of 43 years, Margaret, reside in Terre Haute. They have two grown children and two grand children.
Classes to be honored this year at the banquet include 1950 (60 years since graduation) and 1960 (50 years since graduation). Class speakers scheduled to make responses include Doris O'Hair Smith of Greencastle for the 1950 class and Lloyd Gentry of rural Greencastle for the 1960 class.
