Howard Wayne Braden was born on Nov. 2, 1927 in Brick Chapel, a son of the late George Edgar Braden, Sr. and Agnes Torr Braden.

Mr. Braden lived most of his life in Greencastle and was a retired tool and die maker (33 years) with IBM in Greencastle.

Farming was the love of his life and he farmed the 150-year-old family farm, which is still in the family. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge in Coatesville and was Protestant in belief. He raised and trained bird dogs and judged hunting competitions.

Mr. Braden passed from this life on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in Selmer at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 24 days.

Survivors are three daughters, Judy Braden Watson and husband Steve of Greenwood, Carolyn Braden Ruark of Avon and Donna Braden Gregory and husband Ron of Plantation, Fla,; his companion and loved one of 20 years June Hurst of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; sister Norma Braden Cook of Greencastle; three brothers, George Braden, Jr. of Speedway, John Braden and Jim Braden, both of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Jeff Braden Watson, Chad Gregory, Alison Watson, Samantha Ruark DuMond, Kristin Gregory Tiagonce; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Tiagonce, Arianna Cuerna, Corrine DuMond, Reese Dumond, Chase DuMond; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Other than his parents, Mr. Braden was also preceded in death by a sister Wilma Braden Sears.

Funeral services held today at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel of Selmer with Bro. Jetta Forsythe officiating. Interment followed in Woodville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Martin Hurst, Dalton Hurst, William Maness, Johnny Maness, Danny Maness, Larry Maness.
