Dorothy Ann Sproles Hughes-McDonald, 68, of Brazil died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness. At the time of death, she was surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 29, 1941 in Greencastle. She was raised as the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Kaelber. She graduated from Heltonville High School with the class of 1960. She married Stanley A. Hughes on Nov. 6, 1960. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2005.

She had worked at the Windbreaker Plant, Columbia Records and the Pillsbury Company. She was a member of the Heltonville Christian Church.

She married Larry McDonald on Jan. 24, 2009 in Magnolia, Texas.

She enjoyed traveling, working in her flower garden and spending time with friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events. She was a fun-loving person who always brought laughter and smiles to those around her.

She is survived by husband Larry McDonald; daughters Shelley (Jeff) Minor of Brazil, Anita (Jon) Russell of Brazil and Pam (Andy) Craig of North Vernon; son Ed (Kim) Hughes of Brazil; grandchildren Hannah Minor, Bryce Minor, Austin Russell, Madison Russell, Danielle Craig, Trevor Craig, Tiffany Craig, Derek Craig, Carrie (Greg) Lovett, Travis Hughes, Shawn Hughes and Heather Hughes; great-grandchild McKenzie Lovett; brothers Robert (JoAnn) Sproles, Cecil Sproles and Ronald Sproles; sister Linda (Jim) Watson; brother-in-law, Gary (Brenda) McDonald; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Stanley; and grandson Zachary S. Minor.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home and one hour before services Saturday.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jim Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
