GREENCASTLE -- Friends of the Park Association and the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department partnered with Area 30 Career Center landscaping students this spring to reinvent the Greencastle Aquatic Center landscape at Robe-Ann Park.

Under the direction of Area 30 landscaping instructor Kami Hyde, the students were challenged to reconfigure the landscape by using the already existing plants.

The students dug, divided and trimmed plantings to create a much more maintenance friendly property for all to take care for.

The students also created a pictorial landscape maintenance book. This easy-to-follow manual could help any park maintenance employee, summer lifeguard or park volunteer to recognize the plants and easily follow the seasonal maintenance of the Aquatic Center landscape.

  • Area 30 students also resealed and winterized the Emerald Palace during the last school year.

Another great example of Area 30 programs in our community.
