Art program to craft clay, ceramics
GREENCASTLE -- Students who have completed kindergarten through the seventh grade are invited to take part in Play in Clay Replay, presented by the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department on July 19 through 23.
The program is open to any students in the given age range interested in working with clay and creating a ceramic work of art. Children will learn the basics of ceramics, as well as where clay comes from and what can be done with it.
Students who have completed kindergarten through second grade will create basic forms from clay, while students exiting third and fourth grade will create ceramic tiles with their own unique designs carved into them.
Those who have complete fifth, sixth and seventh will build and carve a vessel from clay that will be food and microwave safe.
The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will meet at Robe-Ann Park Shelter No. 1. If needed, a make-up day will be Aug. 2. The completed pottery can be picked up Aug. 4.
Cost is $15 per student in the first group and $20 per student in groups two and three.
Checks should be payable to the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department.
