GREENCASTLE -- Crossfire played Monday night at the fair. This fall, the band, which was started by Allen Gilbert of Greencastle, will celebrate nine years together

Gilbert is originally from Mississippi and moved to Indiana as a child. Band members Craig Doty, Kenny Copper and Kyle Laney comprise the rest of the band.

Crossfire plays "classic rock with a little country and blues," according to the band's website.

Doty, the lead guitarist, lives in Terre Haute and joined the band about eight years ago when he auditioned for the band. Drummer Copper lives in Brazil and joined the band in January of 2006. Laney, bass guitarist and newest member of Crossfire, lives in Rockville and has been with the band for four months.

Gilbert's wife came up with the name for the band when she visited a restaurant by the same name and told him about the name, which stuck with him.

Gilbert is the only original member of Crossfire, with Doty being the next oldest member.

The band plays mostly around Terre Haute and the surrounding areas and play almost every weekend.

Their next performance will be 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Show Me's at 2324 S 3rd St. in Terre Haute. The event is for those ages 21 and older. Crossfire returns to Greencastle at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Greencastle Moose Lodge, 212 W. Franklin St.
