Guardrails will soon protect motorists along county road
GREENCASTLE -- A troublesome curve near Heritage Lake will soon have guardrails on both sides of the road.
At Monday's meeting of the Putnam County Commissioners, County Highway Supervisor Jim Smith presented the commissioners with a quote of $36,000 to put guardrails on both sides of the road where County Road 725E curves to the west and becomes County Road 525N.
Smith said guardrails had formerly been up on one side of the road, but had been down for about five years.
However, local residents have become concerned over a number of motorists missing the curve.
Smith said he has spoken with the county's insurance company, which recommends the installation of the guardrails.
The commissioners approved 3-0 a contract with Henderson Inc. to install the guardrails.
