The girls' golf teams from Greencastle and South Putnam traveled to Danville Thursday to face the Warriors. Danville won the match with a 195, followed by GHS with 201 and South Putnam with a 229.

Greencastle's Chelsea Samuels earned medalist honors with a 43. She was followed by Katie Hedge with a 45, Diane Wokoun with a 52 and Kay Wood with a 61. McKenzie St. Marie carded a 65 for the Tiger Cubs.

For South Putnam, Cierra Perry led the way with a 55, followed closely by Kelsey Searles and Robbie Urton with a 56 and Caitlyn Boyce with a 62. Cassie Warren shot a 65.

"We had some stretches of some of the best play we've had all year tonight, but a few major mistakes cost us," GHS head coach Brad Kingma said. "We have to clean things up if we're going to be able to beat good teams on their course.

" For example, Diane had six holes where she was only a total of three over, but had a triple and two quintuple bogeys. Katie was hitting her fairways and greens well, but had a four and three putt on her first two holes. Chelsea was three over on her first two holes, but then she came back with four straight pars to earn medalist," Kingma said.

He also noted that this was the same match and course where Samuels earned her first medalist honor her freshman season.
