Wednesday, August 25, 2010

The Cloverdale volleyball team defeated South Vermillion in three sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-10. The Clovers are 1-2 on the season.

Bradanne Toney helped lead the Clovers with 14 kills, three blocks and one point, while Breegan Andersen had one kill, 13 digs, eight points and two aces. Stacia Shepherd had 11 assists, 12 points and one ace, with Bristy Skiles had 18 points, 12 assists and two aces.

Holly McCammon added four kills and six points, with Taylor Jones chipping in three kills, Paige Gruener adding five digs and Mariah Oetken adding three kills, three blocks and three points.

"We changed a few things around tonight which really made a difference for us," CHS head coach Kathy Moore said. "We moved Breegan to libero and she just took over like a pro. With better passing and digs we were able to attack the ball more efficiently earning 28 kills. Bristy served 18 points -- a personal best for her -- and Bradanne had 14 kills. Getting a win tonight (Tuesday) was important for us. It helps our confidence a great deal. We have two tough matches this week when we host Clay City Tuesday night and West Vigo on Thursday night."

The Cloverdale junior varsity lost in three sets, falling 22-25, 25-17 and 14-15.
