County resident promoted to State Police Post commander

INDIANAPOLIS -- A Putnam County resident was recently promoted to serve as the Commander of the Indianapolis State Police Post.

Indiana State Police Superintendent Dr. Paul Whitesell, Ph.D., recently announced the promotion of First Sergeant Patricia Warczynski to the rank of lieutenant to serve as commander.

Lt. Warczynski graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in 1986. Upon graduation she was assigned to the Lowell Post where she spent nine years. During her tour of duty at the Lowell Post, she served on the department's T.I.P. Team, worked two years on the department's undercover narcotics team and was a field training officer.

In 1995, Lt. Warczynski reported to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy where she was a recruit school counselor.

In December of that same year, she was transferred to the Putnamville Post and was promoted to corporal in 1996. During this time, she attended and graduated from the Southern Police Institute.

In 2000, Lt. Warczynski was promoted to Squad Sergeant at the Putnamville Post as well as served as the district's Field Training Officer Coordinator. In April of 2009, Lt. Warczynski was promoted to First Sergeant and served as the Putnamville District Assistant Commander.

In the spring of 2010, Lt. Warczynski was transferred to the Operation Support Division where she served until being promoted to her current position.

Lt. Warczynski will oversee the daily operations of the Indiana State Police Post in Indianapolis and the enforcement personnel and civilians assigned there. The Indianapolis Post includes Marion, Johnson, Shelby, Hendricks and Boone counties.

Lt. Warczynski resides in Putnam County. She has four children and three grandchildren with a fourth on its way.
