DANVILLE -- The Greencastle boys' cross country team placed fifth at the Hokum Karum Saturday.

Tyler Hudson and Hunter Mitchell were the top finishers for GHS, while Nathan Eubank and Ryan Stevens finished 16th.

Paul Bryan and Erik Norlin teamed up for a 40th place finish, with Seth Turner and Matthew White placing 71st.

"Just like Fountain Central the week before, we were up against some stiff competition," GHS head coach Craig Callahan said. "We've been competing against some bigger schools, which we feel will only make us better. My guys showed up and ran hard. We improved our times tremendously.

"Tyler ran his mile times at an exceptional pace," he continued. "To run a 5:05 mile on a cross country course is pretty impressive this early in the season. He has been setting the pace for the rest of the guys in our first two meets, and for that matter, in practice as well. Tyler, Ryan, and Nathan have really been setting the bar high for the rest of the team as my leaders. They always run hard and work hard. The rest of the team responded."

Callahan also noted that a lot of his runners set person records during the meet Saturday.

"Hunter and Nathan set PR's in the mile and my younger guys PR'd as well. We had seven guys PR at Danville. Erik Norlin has really been improving. His work ethic is amazing. We were really excited Saturday to walk away from Danville with a fifth place finish against some talented teams. We now have to get ready for Terre Haute next weekend," he said.

In junior varsity action, Josh Mitchell ran a 15:35 two mile, while Kade Fauber ran a 16:16 and Alex Dozier a 23-flat.
