Round-up helps fund Russellville Community Center

RUSSELLVILLE -- This Saturday, the Russellville Community Center will be having its annual Russeller's Round-Up fundraiser, which features a variety of entertainment options for different age groups.

The fundraiser will feature different musical acts, including a performance of show tunes by Kathi and Jim Elliott of the Russellville Community Church under the name No Regrets at 50, and the Good Ole Boys, a country and western group.

No Regrets at 50 will be playing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, while the Good Ole Boys will be at the community center's gym at 1:30 p.m. Sunday

"The Good Ole Boys are very good," said Joan Everman, one of the community center's board of directors. "People should be sure to bring their dancing shoes."

The event will feature a bevy of food and drinks, as well as a car show and a parade. There will also be vendors selling arts and crafts and a 50/50 raffle drawing.

The round-up is one of the main fundraising events for the Russellville Community Center. Debbie Bartelt, another member of the board of directors, said events like this provide a lot of the money that keeps the community center going.

"In a good year, it can probably bring in between $2,000 and $3,000," she said. "We have light bills that can get to around $400 a month, so this money really helps keep the center open."

In addition to keeping the lights and heat on at the center, Bartelt said the donations from the round-up are put back into the community center and allow the board of directors to help people who may be in need.

"We've had dinners for people in town when their houses burned down or when they're in poor health," she said. "It allows us the freedom to do things like that."

Bartelt said they eventually hope to pave the driveway at the community center, which is currently gravel.

The round-up is free on Saturday though donations for the community center are appreciated. There is a $5 entrance fee on Sunday to see the Good Ole Boys. The event starts at 8 a.m. both days with a breakfast and ends after 8 p.m. on Saturday and after 6 p.m. on Sunday.
