Cougars fall to Bulldogs at home

DANVILLE -- North Putnam shot 225 and lost to Monrovia's 209 in a West Central Conference golf match Tuesday at Twin Bridges Golf Club.

"We've played at that score for the last few rounds," Cougars' coach Linda Patrick said. "We've stagnated and can't seem to get off that score in the mid-220s. I feel we could be better if we could get all the girls playing good together."

Valerie Scott's 54 was the low round for the Cougars. Josie Parent, Meagan Schutter and Ellen Wilborn had 57s to complete the North Putnam total score. Carlie Shearer shot 62, Emmy Rees 68 and Cortney Smith 71 for the Cougars.

"A couple of our girls need to be more consistent," Patrick said. "Scott is consistent there (low 50s) and Ellen made a move down to 57, which is 11 strokes better than her last round. But we can't seem to cut down our team score."

North Putnam plays in the WCC match Saturday at Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton.

Monrovia's Morgan Knieper was medalist with a 43 and Chrislyn Church added the second low round for the match with a 46. Erin Hays and Haley Bridgewater had 60s to complete Monrovia's total. It was Monrovia's best score of the year.
