Tiger Cubs fall to Triton Central, 26-0

FAIRLAND -- The Greencastle football team had its record evened to 2-2 after falling to Triton Central 26-0 Friday.

Triton Central did its damage in the second half as the teams were knotted at 0-all at the half.

GHS head coach Eric Davis explained Triton Central wore his Tiger Cubs out and exploited that in the third quarter. He also felt his team's defense stepped up in the first half to keep the game within reach.

"I think our defense just kind of held on in a couple key situations in the first half," Davis said. "We had a couple interceptions that killed their drives in the first half. That really helped us overt any kind of scoring opportunities they may have had.

"We moved the ball a little bit in the first half, which kind of kept their offense off the field, but we just couldn't punch it in," he added.

Looking at the loss, Davis saw some things his team needs to improve on and things he was pleased with as well.

"I think the first thing is what we can build on is we had some success with some things offensively," he said. "Defensively we can look at the first half, how hard our kids fought in the first half and look at that as a positive.

"What we can look at and say we need to improve on has to be responding to adversity in the third quarter and really having that relentless fight we had in the first couple games. For the first time this year, we didn't have that for four quarters," he said.

Greencastle will host South Putnam Friday at 7 p.m.
