BLOOMINGTON -- The Greencastle girls' cross country team competed at the Bloomington North Invite Saturday. In the senior/junior division Greencastle was second and was first in the freshman/sophomore division.

Emily Gill finished in fifth place in the senior/junior division with a time of 21:56, with Paige Pickens coming in seventh in 22:39. Cheyenne Fauvergue was ninth in a time of 24:58 and Jasmine Dwigans was 12th in 26:23. GHS placed second on the day.

In the freshman/sophomore division, Colleen Weatherford was first overall in a time of 21:08. Kayla Cash was fourth in a time of 22:38 and Abigail Wilson was sixth in 23:04. Megan Haynes was ninth in 24:01, Alex Stoffregean was 19th in 26:41, Brooke Plummer was 22nd in 27:09 and Katie Burns was 25th with a time of 28:28. Greencastle finished in first place.

"Our times were higher than at our last meet, which was expected," head coach Garry Anderson said. "This was due to the terrain we raced on. There were tough hills, winding, hilly wooded areas with roots and rocks, and some pavement and concrete to run on. This made for some tough footing and running. The competition was tough again as we faced Northeast Dubois, Bloomfield and Bloomington North -- all are ranked and provided challenges for all the girls."
