5th annual Life Chain planned for Oct. 3

Friday, September 24, 2010

The fifth annual Putnam County Life Chain will take place on Oct. 3 from 2:30 -- 3:30 p.m.

Life Chain is a large peaceful and public pro-life witness. Participants meet at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at 202 East Washington St. in Greencastle. Professionally printed signs are handed out, and a code of conduct is read by all participants.

After a short prayer the group moves to the sidewalks of U.S. 231 downtown to pray for one hour. At the same time, thousands of pro-lifers across the United States and Canada will be holding Life Chains and also praying for the nation and for an end to abortion.

More than 1,300 Life Chains will form, including 30 in Indiana cities.

Life Chain is an interfaith gathering. Several churches from Putnam County have joined in and attendance each year has been around 100 people. There is no money involved in the event, which is open to families.

Umbrellas, strollers and water bottles are welcome. Attendees stand in the rain or sunshine.
