Dorothy L. Miller, 98, of Indianapolis, formerly of Reelsville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 in Indianapolis.

She was born Sept. 4, 1912 in Brazil, the daughter of Elmer and Luella Clark Lawson. She married Morris Miller March 28, 1937.

She received her bachelor of science degree in 1954 and master's degree in 1957 from Indiana State University. She taught school for 32 years; 22 of those years were at Miller Elementary School in Greencastle. She began her teaching career in one-room schoolhouses in Hadley Town, Prairie City, Roadmond and Wesley Chapel. She also taught for several years at Reelsville Elementary School. Dorothy retired from teaching school in 1972.

She was a member of Reelsville Methodist Church and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by one son, Robert L. (Janet S.) Miller; daughter Judith A. Buttrey; grandchildren Karen Walls, Kimberly Hoffner (Jason), Greg Buttrey (Karen), Alan Buttrey and Jason Buttrey; great-grandchildren Lindsay Frye (Luke), Erin Walls and Andrew Heady (Allison); siblings Bette Killion (Bill), Minnetta Huber (Bill) and Glenn Lawson; sister-in-law Marcella Lawson; brother-in-law Dan Watts; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Barbara Watts, Wayne Lawson, George Lawson (Kathryn), Norris Lawson and Harold Lawson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with burial to follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
