Voter registration at McDonald's Saturday

This weekend will be the last one to register to vote in the Nov. 2 election.

This Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Greencastle League of Women Voters will be registering voters at McDonald's on the corner of Washington Street and Percy Julian Drive.

It is a straight forward process for those 18 years of age and older and who have lived in their precinct for at least 30 days.

Registration is necessary if you have never voted in Indiana or if you have not voted in the last two presidential elections.

Bring your driver's license or your Indiana state ID. Those numbers will need to be entered on the form.

It is also possible to register on line by Oct 4 at www.indianavoters.in.gov. Again, you have to have your BMV license number or your ID number to register online.

The League of Women Voters of Greencastle encourages informed and active participation in government and is a nonpartisan political organization. Membership is open to men and women of all ages.

Food distribution planned for Saturday

Whitestone Food Pantry will have a food distribution on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 8045 W. U.S. 36, Coatesville.

Distribution is geared toward needy residents in Floyd Township, Putnam County and Marion Township, Hendricks County. Recipients must provide a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, and another form or ID, such as a utility bill.
