CRAWFORDSVILLE -- The Cloverdale volleyball team lost to Southmont in four games Tuesday, falling 22-25, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-13. The loss moves the Clovers to 12-12 on the season.

Leading the Clovers in scoring was Mariah Oetken with seven points and one ace. Stacia Shepherd had five points and one ace, with Adri Patterson, Holly McCammon and Bradanne Toney with four points each. Taylor Jones and Bristy Skiles contributed three points as well.

Offensively, Toney led the Clovers with 16 kills, Oetken seven, McCammon four and Jones three. On the defensive side, Toney lead with 15 digs, followed by Breegan Andersen with eight, Paige Gruener with seven and Oetken with six. Skiles added five digs, while Jones added four, McCammon three, Shepherd two. Casey Lyons and Shanna Schmutte contributed one dig each.

"We started out our first set well," CHS head coach Kathy Moore said. "We were passing the ball the best we have all season and running our offense. In set two, we had difficulty with service errors and a few mental errors.

"In set three we were in it and it was point for point with the score at 19-19 then we made a hitting error followed by a passing error and we just didn't recover from that," she said.

Moore also noted her team struggled with consistency in the fourth set and was never able to get things going.
