Bug doctor to visit Purdue Club

The Purdue Club of Putnam County is having a dinner program at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Autumn Glen. The speaker will be Dr. Tom Turpin, a well-known Purdue entomologist, who will give a humorous program on bugs. He is known as the "bug doctor."

Chili dinner to benefit Eli Hardwick at Elk's Lodge

A chili supper benefit for Eli Hardwick will be held at the Greencastle Elks Lodge on Oct. 20.

The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Free will offering will be taken, and "Team Eli" shirts will be available for sale.

Hardwick, 6, was struck by a car at Big Walnut Sports Park on Sept. 30. He was originally at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, and has now been moved to Methodist Hospital, also in Indianapolis, for rehabilitation.

Relay for life to benefit cancer society

The "Miller Life" Putnam County Relay for Life Team in memory of J.D. Miller will present Longaberger bingo at 7 p.m. Oct. 21. The event will take place at Elks Lodge No. 1077.

Cost is $15 for 15 games and three cards. Advanced ticket purchasers will get an entry to a raffle. Tickets can be purchased at Cross Cuts, Styling Station and Dairy Castle or from a "Miller Life" team member.

All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
