Once again, Purdue Extension educator Jackie Baumann and Area 30 Career Center Culinary Arts teacher Mary Anne Birt are teaming up to offer a cooking class for both Extension Homemakers and the public.

The theme for this year's class is Soup Making 101. This is the fourth year for the two organizations to collaborate on offering a basic cooking class.

Also joining the cooking class this year is registered dietician Sharon Black from the Putnam County Hospital.

Soups 101 is scheduled for Nov. 9 at Area 30 Career Center on Indianapolis Road. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling the Extension Office at 653-8411.

The cost to attend this year's class, which will include a light lunch, is $5, which can be paid at the door as long as the reservation has been made in advance.

Reservations are due by Nov. 1.

Those attending the class, in addition to getting to taste at least three different soups, will see demonstrations and receive cooking tips, recipes and nutrition information about a variety of soups such as a basic broth and roux, and tips for making soup from scratch, to crock pot meals and even an easy 15-minute soup that will taste like it took much longer to prepare.
