Nightingale opens new office

GREENCASTLE -- Nightingale Home Healthcare has just opened a satellite office located inside Putnam County Senior Center.

Becky Gwizdala, a patient advocate with Nightingale, said having the office in the senior center was a benefit.

"This satellite in particular is an awesome thing," Gwizdala said. "It meets our needs but it also helps to support the senior center.

"While we support clients of any age the majority of our client population is a senior population," Gwizdala said. "In a way Nightingale gets to give back to the population it serves in this area."

Gwizdala said Nightingale provides a variety of different in-home services.

"Nightingale Home Healthcare provides skilled services such as nurses aids and therapists and nurses in the homecare setting," she said. "We also offer private duty care such as nurses aids, companions or housekeepers."

The company also offers hospice services for end-of-life care, Gwizdala said.

"The hospice services can be either in the home setting or in a nursing home setting or even a hospital," she said.

Gwizdala said she has been with the company for a month. During that time, the company added services in three states.

"In a time of economic instability, Nightingale is growing," Gwizdala said.

The office, which is in a small room within the senior center, will be used as a satellite for Nightingale's full office based in Carmel. Nightingale had services in the area before the office was in place. As an area gains enough clients, the company opens a satellite office.

"It's not a full-functioning office, it's used for our local staff here in Greencastle to have a meeting place," Gwizdala said.

"All of our staff are local," she said. "Our therapists and our nurses for Greencastle are right here. It gives them a place to go and to work and have meetings."
