Greencastle seventh grade basketball wins 53-19

CLOVERDALE -- In seventh grade basketball action Monday night, the Greencastle Tiger Cubs traveled to Cloverdale for a county battle against the Clovers.

Both teams used much of the first half of the game feeling each other out with the Tiger Cubs holding a 21 to 10 lead going into halftime.

Greencastle opened the second half with a big 19-point quarter fueled by an aggressive defense that created numerous turnovers that in turn, turned into easy layups.

Ryan Coble scored eight of his game-high 15 points in that third quarter, and the Tiger Cubs never looked back, coasting to 53-18 victory over their county rivals. Coble led his team defensively with nine steals.

Also contributing defensively, Jacob Lewis had eight steals on the night, followed by Zach Wilkerson and Brandon Gierke with four each. Gierke also pulled down a game high eight rebounds on the night and chipped in 10 points.

Anthony Rossok contributed eight points to the winning effort, also. The Clovers were paced in scoring by Hall with eight points and Grounds with seven. The Tiger Cubs will next be in action Wednesday when they face.

Danville at home with the A-game starting at 6 p.m. The Clovers travel to Rockville for a 7th and 8th grade contest on Thursday versus Rockville.
