A World of Christmas to be performed by cantata choir representing 10 churches

A community cantata choir representing 10 churches will be giving two performances of "A World of Christmas" by Joseph Martin.

Music is the language that can join many cultures. This cantata expresses the belief that in God there is no East or West, in Him no South or North. Hate and prejudice melt into the joyous singing of praise for the Christ child, the Prince of Peace.

The first performance is on Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church. The second performance is on Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Length of the cantata is 45 minutes. Admission is free.

Director of music and accompanist is Cheryl Beck. Choir director is Patrick Meyer. Narrator at the morning performance is Hector Carillo. Jamie Barrand and Jared Jernagan will be the narrators at the afternoon performance.

Instrumentalists include Rachel Glenister (violin), Kevin Celebi (trumpet), Sarah Chamberlain (flute), and Rebekah Woolverton (percussion). Soloists are Bradley King, Jorie Moss, and Theresa Noble.
