Putnam County SWCD party set

GREENCASTLE -- The Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District invites the public to attend its 65th Conservation Celebration.

The event is scheduled for Jan. 26. It will take place at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building in Greencastle.

Two workshops will be offered at 5 p.m. -- one on effects of fertilizer on water quality and another concurrent session on benefits of rain gardens and rain barrels in landscaping.

Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with an informative program.

The second session of workshops will begin at 7 p.m. Emphasis will be on soil quality and Big Walnut Watershed programs.

CCA-CCE/CEU credits for the session on fertilizer on water quality and soil quality are pending.

Dinner speaker will be Andy Nicholson of Nicolson Consulting LLC, who will share information on nitrogen management and crop yields. The Conservation Farm of the Year and Woodland Conservationist will be recognized during the program.

A complimentary dinner will be provided as part of the Putnam County SWCD invitation to the public.
