CLOVERDALE -- The Putnam and Owen County SWCDs are hosting a contractor's breakfast meeting on Feb. 10, 2011 at the Cloverdale Holiday Inn Express to update contractors on the Natural Resource and Conservation Service (NRCS) guidelines for building land structures.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast. Fred Glover, NRCS civil engineering technician, will be speaking to the contractors about the modifications and changes that have been instituted and why they are important in the layout and design of farm land structures to help the farmers preserve their top soil and enhance good water quality. Matt Jarvis, NRCS and Jon Hannon, FSA will be updating contractor's on the 2008 Farm Bill Programs and new programs initiated in Owen/Putnam Counties

This annual meeting designed by the Putnam County Soil and Water to serve as continuing education for the contractor's that serve this area. Attendance at this meeting will ensure your name being included on the contractor list held in each local office.

A list of current contractor's can be obtained at the Putnam and Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District office. It is also available on the website: http://putnam.iaswcd.org/

Please RSVP to Putnam or Owen County SWCD by Feb. 4 to ensure we have enough materials for the meeting.
