Sylvia Jane Hall

Sylvia Jane Hall, 78, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greencastle, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 at her residence.

Born May 26, 1932 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Lee Armstead and Marguerite Victoria (Ballaux) Martin and a graduate of Greencastle High School class of 1950. She married Bennie Lee "Popeye" Hall on Sept. 12, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1991.

Sylvia had worked at the Putnam County Hospital for 23 years as the dietician supervisor. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Putnam County; the First Southern Baptist Church, where she also served as secretary; the American Legion and the Democratic auxiliaries.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Larry) Todd of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Tabatha (James) Johnson of Indianapolis, Steven Fisher and fiancé' Michelle of Brownsburg and Bennie Fisher of Brownsburg; six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Sylvia Sue Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Boyette officiating. Burial will follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday.
