Greencastle battles Eagles

The Greencastle eighth grade girls' basketball A and B teams defeated South Putnam Thursday. The A-team won 40-8, while the B-team won 41-7.

In the A-game, Jessica Lenihan led the way with 12 points, with Taylor Stoltey adding eight points. Sydney Stuckwisch chipped in six points, with Callan Taylor, Delanie Stoltey and Sydney Smiley all adding four points. Sydney Secrest contributed one point.

Jessica Jones led South Putnam with six points and Emily Dobson chipped in two points.

In B-team action, Sammy Newcomer led GMS with 13 and Tera Amis added eight. Lauren Bridgewater scored seven, Sydney Secrest six and Delanie Stoltey four points. Brittany Welker scored two points and Breanna Ferrand chipped in one point.

Greencastle held the Eagles scoreless in the second half en route to its win.

Bree Parker led the way for South Putnam with Ellen Lesko adding two and Angel Nield with one point.

The teams will be back in action Monday at North Putnam at 5:30 p.m.

Seventh grade

The Greencastle Middle School seventh grade girls' basketball team went 1-1 this week in action.

The Tiger Cubs began the week with a 27-14 loss to Tri-West, but rebounded to defeat South Putnam Thursday 42-10.

Against Tri-West, Sage Klinger scored four points to lead the way, with Megan Haltom and Kenlee Johnson adding three points each. Marley Haltom chipped in one point in the loss.

Greencastle had two players score in double figures against the Eagles Thursday in its win.

Klinger knocked down 13 points, with Megan Haltom pouring in 10. Klinger also added three rebounds, three steals and one block.

Marley Haltom and Morgan Adams added four points for GMS, while Lucy Hayes, Rachel Chadd, Kaylee Evans and Bethanie Burgeson chipped in two points each.

Allison White had a nice game with two points, four rebounds, two steals and three blocks and Johnson scored one point in the win.
