Disability Awareness Month

Friday, March 18, 2011
Several students from Old National Trail were on hand recently when Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray signed a proclamation recognizing March as Disabilities Awareness Month in Putnam County. In signing the proclamation, the city joins the Governor's Council for People with Disabilities in increasing awareness and promoting independence, integration and inclusion of all people with disabilities. The month's theme is "Cultivate Inclusion," so the students brought gifts of paper flowers as well as flower seeds to City Hall. Present for the signing were, front from left, Tori Knable of North Putnam, Mayor Murray, Tabitha Lewis of Eminence; middle, ONT life skills teacher Linda Schroeder, Putnam County Comprehensive Services director Chuck Schroeder; back, Thomas Keller of Cloverdale, Tommy Beasley of North Putnam, Todd Beasley of North Putnam and Matthew Patrick of South Putnam.
